Not the best hood I have ever used.

The hood is so long and narrow that you literally can't take the lens cap on and off without taking the entire hood off. basically this means if you plan on walking around with it on you will have to walk around with the lens cap off. I am the type of person who likes taking the cap on and off between shooting when walking around, and this hood will not let you. The only use I have for this hood is basically when I am shooting people who are posing for me continuously over an extended period of time. Then I don't mind the aformentioned issue.
Furthermore, it does not come off easily. You have to press the two buttons with the exact right amount of force to get it off. Too much and you end up squeezing it so it sticks to the lens. Too little and the tabs don't come in enough to get it off. I mean you really have to press the buttons "just so." It is very annoying.
Bottom line, for me this is a studio or pre-planned posing item only. This is not a hood for walking around and taking candid pictures (unless of course you are the type of person who leaves the lens cap off all the time) |
