I purchased this camera primarily for taking videos in situations where a tiny, easily pocketable camera is key. This includes spur-of-the-moment times when there's no opportunity to set up a camcorder, as well as outdoor activities for which the device needs to be very compact. I also wanted this device for photos in the event that I'm not carrying my Nikon SLR.
I am very pleased with the quality of video and the camera's ease of use. Button layout is well-thought out, with distinct buttons for playback, photos and recording video. I took the camera skiing, and it was not overly cumbersome to use with gloved hands, despite the size. The video was remarkably crisp, and the audio was decent.
I give very high marks to the build quality and tactile feel of the camera. It is very comfortable to hold, and feels sturdy.
The photos that I have taken so far are of mediocre quality, tending to be a bit soft, and especially grainy at high ISOs or low light.
One annoyance is the need to use the cradle to transfer data to your computer. It's just another thing to have to cart around while you're traveling.
If you are looking for an ultraportable camera primarily for video at a low price point, this camera does a good job. However, if your primary concern is photo quality, you might look elsewhere. |
