No U.S. Service and No Reliability
|
| One of my principal reasons for purchasing the i900 was to able to scan 8x10 negatives on a reasonably priced flatbed scanner. Its specifications were superior to others then on the market (the Epson 4990 had not yet been introduced when I bought). Unfortunately, the solenoid that reverses the mirror on the scanning light broke (after warranty, of course) and THERE IS NO SERVICE IN THE U.S.!!! While I might be able to use the scanner for negatives and chromes, everytime I scan there are three colored lines going in the direction of the scan that must be removed by Photoshop, a painstaking, mind-numbing process. There is simply nothing to reocmmend this scanner. |
