Wish I read the first review before I bought this adapter

I had purchased this adapter because I was bringing my laptop with me on vacation to Hong Kong, China and Japan. So after I checked in to my hotel in HK, one of the first things I did was set up my laptop. I used one of the settings on the adapter to plug into the wall outlet and it fits great! I'm happy! But to my dismay, when I tried to plug my laptop power supply into the adapter, the plug wouldn't fit! Just as the first reviewer stated, for U.S. type plugs, it only accepts the standard two prong plug. And mine is a three prong!
Since this adapter was advertised to be able to be "all-in-one" that would handle plugs between 100 different countries, I had just assumed (yeah, I know what they say about assuming . . .) that my three prong plug would work. So I didn't bother trying it before I left for my vacation. Big mistake! But luckily it was not a fatal one because Hong Kong is a modern city and I was able to easily pick up a simple 3-prong to 2-prong converter that solved my problem. If my itinerary were different and I started my vacation with the cruise up the Yangtze River, I would have literally been "up the creek" without the proverbial paddle.
Other than that glaring deficiency, the adapter worked great. I don't know if other countries have a similar "problem" with different types of plugs like the U.S., so "buyer beware"! And don't assume anything! |
