HP PhotoSmart 735 3.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom description
The HP PS735 delivers big results from a little camera, thanks mainly to its high-resolution CCD. It also offers terrific connectivity options thanks to HP Instant Share technology that lets users select where photos will go the next time they connect the camera to a PC--e-mail addresses, printers and more.

Optics and Resolution
The PS735 has a 3.24 effective-megapixel CCD that snaps pictures at a native resolution of 2088 x 1550 pixels. That's enough resolution to allow for clear printouts at up to 11 x 14 inches. The 3x optical zoom lens can be augmented by the 5x digital zoom for a total zoom level of 15x. This is a point-and-shoot camera with a variety of automatic shooting modes, but several manual adjustments also are available for those times you need to override the default settings.

Storage and Transfer
Images are stored in the camera's 16 MB internal memory or on removable SD or MMC cards. The camera connects to a PC using a full-speed USB 1.1 interface.

More Features
The HP PhotoSmart 935 and 735 digital cameras feature the latest version of HP Instant Share. HP Instant Share is an Internet-based software application that allows consumers to select destinations from the back of the camera; then, by connecting the camera to a computer, the photos are instantly sent to the selected destinations--e-mail addresses, printers or hpphoto.com. Receivers of the HP Instant Share e-mail can easily view, print and save the photos from a secure Web page--all without downloading attachments.

The many manual adjustments include various ISO settings, several flash modes, macro focus mode, and many exposure controls. A ten-second timer is built in and the camera can adjust automatically to compensate for a variety of lighting conditions.

Other features include:

  • Captures video clips with audio
  • 1.5 inch LCD
  • Can shoot in burst mode

Power and Size
The camera is powered by two AA batteries (rechargeable NiMH batteries recommended). It measures 4.13 by 1.8 by 2.8 inches and weighs .52 pounds (without batteries).

♥♥♥♥ A Decent Snapshot Camera, but Buy a Newer One
I have owned this camera for almost 3 years now, and it is the sturdiest and most reliable one that I have had. Once, I dropped it from 5 feet onto a sidewalk and it didn't even get a scratch. The outdoor picture quality is excellent, as well as the macro mode, but if you have shaky hands (like me), you will have a ton of blurry pics. The screen just can't compete with new cameras, being too small and dim to see outdoors. The flash is weak, but if you know how to use aperture and ISO settings, indoor shots will turn out pretty good. Personally, I think buyers would be better off buying one of HP's new R-series cameras (R717, R817, etc). While this camera is cheap and pretty reliable, the newer models have much more features and are still around $200-$300.
