It's a NICE Camera...
|
... that has been a workhorse for work and play. It's now an older model, but some things hold so this review is meant to help you with the later versions, as well. The Carl Zeiss Lens is fantastic and I will let a photo posted as "Boogaloo Review" help you to judge.
It's biggest mission was a horseback vacation in Arizona. It worked fantastic on the back of a horse and recently served up a bonus. A recent fire destroyed the 'cook shack' building and some precious photos to the ranch owner she thought were gone forever. Ah, but I had taken photos of those photos with this Sony (I'll post one of those, too). With some tight cropping, I was able to reproduce every single one, virtually good as new, regretting a little bit of flash reflection that I did not think would matter at the time. Heck, I might be going on vacation for FREE next year!! Saddle up and let 'em buck, baby.
By today's standards, the image stabilization is weak at long zooms and distant long zoom shots are not the best. But, close full zoom shots are fantastic, so it's a great snapshot camera. Also, I prefer to use Lithium AA batteries because, with only two, it eats up alkalines fast. For me, rechargeable's are not serviceable.
The movie mode is decent and the 5mp resolution is suitable for up to letter size prints. If you find this model used for around $100, it's a great buy. Today's newer models are faster and better, but this was a GREAT camera when it came out. Look at my photo posts and see for yourself. |
