Focusing Issues at 2.8

| I was hoping to use this lens for low light situations, and was very happy with the reviews. I took some pictures using a Nikon d80 with the aperture at 2.8, and the focus was soft. I decided to take a look on the net for other complaints about the same issue. I notice on other sites discussions about the soft focus at 2.8. The lens tends to focus further into the subject and your focused area is slightly in front. Which is exactly what I found. You will have to go to about f4. It is a sharper lens overall than the kit lens. As a follow up, on 1/28/08 I did some more experimenting with the lens and found that with manual focus and the camera set on a tripod I was able to obtain sharp focus at f2.8, but never hand held or with the auto focus. |
