♥♥♥♥♥ Superb 35mm lens for M mount rangefinder cameras
The Zeiss Ikon 35mm f2 T* ZM Biogon lens is becoming an attractive alternative to the Leica 35mm f2 ASPH Summicron-M lens at nearly half the Leica's price, based upon some very enthusiastic reviews I've come across by users on the Internet. Judging from the reports I've seen, this lens is a substantial improvement over the 35mm f2 Planar lens for the Contax G series autofocus rangefinder cameras. However, I'm not sure whether its optical quality is as superb as the Leica ASPH Summicron, though the MTF curves which Zeiss has provided at its website for the Zeiss Ikon rangefinder system suggest that this lens is without a doubt a worthy rival. If the Leica lens is indeed superior with regards to optical quality, it is only because its lens design includes at least one aspherical glass surface, while the Zeiss Biogon design doesn't have any aspherical lens elements; performance-wise most of the reviews I've seen suggests that this lens is as good as the last non-aspherical 35mm Leica Summicron lens with regards to image quality (And then, some people like this Zeiss lens better since its bokeh - out of focus highlights - are more rounded, and thus, more pleasing than the bokeh produced by the Leica 35mm ASPH Summicron lens.). This lens accepts 43mm filters like its 50mm f2 Planar sibling.
