| Okay, this movie was not totally bad. It had some good moments, and I loved seeing Constance Talmadge in it.But it just wasn't my cup of tea. I prefer silents like "The Merry Widow", "IT", and "Affairs of Anatol". Cute stylish comedies. Fluffy stuff. This movie wasn't fluffy, it was kind of deep and sad and historic, all about love fighting intolerance...blah blah blah...on and on.I can see why it was considered to be the best silent of all time and, and I respect it, so I am reviewing it in that sense. But you gotta admit that most people my age don't like silents or any old movies at all. I'm giving Intolerance 4 stars because of it's signifigance, moral, and great sets. Not based on how much fun it was to watch it. If I reviewed it based on how fun it was supposed to be, I would give it 1 star. Still, the picture was clear, not grainy with any tears and stuff. and the color tinting was really delightful, with the pink and blue and orange... how cute! This DVD edition was also 178 minutes, which was almost impossible to sit through, but there were also some nice special features to watch. I was lucky to have watched some other silents before Intolerance, or else I would never have watched the whole thing or ever watched a silent ever again. If you don't like long, moral movies, Inolerance will be an intolerable experience for you. It's a good addition to any silent collection, and a must-see for movie buffs! |
