Too bad to review

When this DVD was sent to our magazine (Classical Fighting Arts) we refused to review it on the grounds that it was of such poor quality it was not fit for sale. Our publisher felt that, because of the high standards maintained by our publication, even a bad review might enhance its value in the eyes of our readers, and therefore the best policy was to decline.
Basically this program (like most of the others from this source) is odds and ends of really bad 8mm. and home video footage, crudely cut together with entry level software on a cheap PC. The only possible excuse for buying it is if you are a collector, and if you are, you probably have all this footage anyway as much higher quality copies have been around for years.
There are professionally made DVDs dealing with this subject that have high standard of content, editing, and overall production. Companies like Legend productions and Tsunami have outstanding products that are "Broadcast Quality" in other words, good enough to show on the Discovery Channel, TLC, History Channel, etc. in the same price range. |
