I'm not sure what MGM is doing to Region 1 people in the DVD area, but we're loosing out here! Go over to look at the Amazon UK site (look at the bottom of Amazon homepage and click on Amazon "United Kingdom") and search for the "Ultimate Bond Collectors Set" and read what's included! The Region 2 set would make the "Ultimate" Present to a Bond Lover! NOTE Region 2 will NOT play on a Region 1 DVD Player and the opposite Region 2 DVD will not play on Region 1 DVD players.
First off, the REAL set is a black box, NOT white. The white is a rip off and many of the bonus features do not work.
The box on the Region 2 set is MUCH larger (longer)compare the pictures from the UK Amazon to the American Amazon, it is a nice fancy plastic box, and it includes James Bond Poker Chips and a deck of playing cards! The same 42 DVD's. Half the DVD's are on one side, Poker chips with holderand cards are in the middle and the other half are are on the right. Look at the Pictures at the UK site.
Amazon UK is not shipping it until November 12 (Europe release date).
Understand you CAN get this and have it work on your home Television, ANY home television......
But first you need a DVD player that has the ability to be "hacked" with a code to play multi-region DVD's. That is DVD's from ALL regions (1-8 or Region 0 to play ALL regions) AND that the DVD Player has a PAL/NTSC internal converter (so that you do not need a PAL television (American uses NTSC TV, Europe uses PAL). Look at Amazon selling (search for)the Philips DVP5140. It may say DVP5140/37 but it's all the same. Then look at the reviews how to hack it. TRUST me it works! Amazon may not carry this DVD player so you may have to order it from another seller listed or another place online, but it's available, and the codes to hack it work under the first review of the hack. Understand this is not something Philips advertises, so don't call them up and ask how you can make the player work with all regions as they'll tell you USA is Region. The box even says "Region 1" (number 1 is inside a globe of the world). But it can be made to play all regions and has an internal PAL/NTSC converter (people in Europe use it to watch NTSC on their PAL television), and many DVD Players do not have this internal converter, so you either need an external converter (more money) or a PAL Television. It's a regluar DVD player, but allows you to watch DVD from all regions. It's not a high end DVD player, but it will play any DVD you throw at it.
Now with the player set to play region zero you can watch any and all DVD's from all regions! PAL or NTSC!
Next, anyone can go and order the REAL BOND ULTIMATE set from Amazon UK (just log in using your regular Amazon account and password), however be aware of the money conversion on your CC. Since the British Pound is worth more than the USA Dollar, and as of today the Region 2 set is 149.99 pounds (free shipping in the UK, NOT to America). Convert that (search online for UK to USA online conversions) and you come out to around $310 dollars not including airmail or Priority Air (more money). So the total (shipping included) will be around $330. MAKE sure you convert the total online using a free converter (you just put in British Pound and US Dollar then type in the cost and then enter and it'll convert the pound to the dollar at that days rate you order (this way you have no surprise on your VISA) as the email confirmation you get and the online order status along with your packing slip lists the British Pound, NOT the American Dollar.
Then it'll take five business days (using regular airmail, shorter for Priority but I've not used Priority) to get from the UK to you on the East Cost, longer the more west you go.
Yes, it's expensive and you really have to jump through hoops to get it. But if you're a real fan and really want it, or know someone who does, the above information will get it to you and allow it to work.
