entertaining but not perfect
|
The Highs:
+ Donny Osmond is the quintessential Joseph - great pipes, perfectly cast.
+ Robert Torti steals the show with his hysterical rendition of Pharaoh/Elvis - wow.
+ Gerry McIntyre in Calypso scene is a delight.
+ Hoe-down dancing scene is full of energy.
+ Sets preserve the stage feel of a movie production.
The Lows:
- Inconsistent sound quality.
- Richard Attenborough is a great actor - not a great singer.
- Maria Friedman has sparkle as the narrator, but her singing voice doesn't seem up to the task.
- PG costumes (Mrs Potiphar seduction especially) make this movie not-so-kid-friendly.
- Inappropriate scenes (the Apache dancer was great, but was it really necessary for her to seduce Jacob at the end?). |
