| This is a Disney classic, and I have fond memories of watching it as a little girl. There is one thing I would have wanted to be aware of, however, before my purchase. Times have changed a great deal, politically and socially, since this movie was made (1951 I believe). The depictions of native americans are very stereotypical of the time - they are dumb and ugly, and the pirates are much more accurately depicted than would be true in a movie made today. These things do not detract from enjoyment of the film, however you might want to think twice before showing it to a younger child, or provide an explanation to an older child who is watching for the first time. | |
