Wonderful drama set during Sherman's March in the Civil War
|
I remembered seeing this movie ages ago and that it took place during the Civil War, so I rented it for my teens. It actually had many elements of the Civil War in it and depicted the south pretty accurately during and after Sherman's March. (General William Tecumseh Sherman decided that the Civil War would be over quicker if he marched across the south burning and pillaging as he went. It devastated the south.) Anyway, aside from the historical elements, the storyline is a little graphic for anyone under 14 years old. I was surprised that there was a naked breast and derriere shown in this movie considering it was so old.
A wounded Yankee soldier (Clint Eastwood) is found by a 12 year-old girl from a boarding school in the woods. She brings him back to the school and the two women who run the boarding school, as well as another student, all fall in lust with him. I don't want to give the ending away, but needless to say he can't sleep with all of them in one night and the result is something horrific happens to him (these women can be vengeful). We laughed through it because I had forewarned my teens what was coming. Otherwise, it would have been even a bit graphic for them.
If you really want to know the graphic part, leave a comment and I will check back and post it there as it is pretty disturbing (made even me sick). |
