Bonnie and Clyde description
One of the landmark films of the 1960s, Bonnie and Clyde changed the course of American cinema. Setting a milestone for screen violence that paved the way for Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch, this exercise in mythologized biography should not be labeled as a bloodbath; as critic Pauline Kael wrote in her rave review, "it's the absence of sadism that throws the audience off balance." The film is more of a poetic ode to the Great Depression, starring the dream team of Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as the titular antiheroes, who barrel across the South and Midwest robbing banks with Clyde's brother Buck (Gene Hackman), Buck's frantic wife Blanche (Estelle Parsons), and their faithful accomplice C.W. Moss (the inimitable Michael J. Pollard). Bonnie and Clyde is an unforgettable classic that has lost none of its power since the 1967 release. --Jeff Shannon

♥♥♥♥ Details for new Special Edition, Ultimate Edition, HD and Blu-ray releases
I won't comment on the movie itself, which is a landmark and has many very helpful reviews here. This is just info about the features of the new releases, due out on March 25th, that Amazon is taking pre-orders for but hasn't given the details of.

According to dvdactive, dvdtimes, and other reputable sources, Warner Home Video is releasing a newly remastered transfer of Bonnie and Clyde in several editions. (Just do a web search for "bonnie and clyde" plus "ultimate collector's edition" and other such stuff mentioned here to get the links--Amazon doesn't seem to accept outside links in reviews.) The new transfer has been made from the "original elements," meaning either the original negatives or original prints. This will be released on DVD in a 2-disc Special Edition ([[ASIN:B0010YVCI4 Bonnie and Clyde (Two-Disc Special Edition)]]), a 2-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition ([[ASIN:B0010YVCHU Bonnie & Clyde (2pc) (W/Book) (Ws Rmst Rstr Sub)]]), and also in HD ([[ASIN:B0010YVCIO Bonnie and Clyde [HD DVD]]]) and Blu-ray ([[ASIN:B0010YVCHK Bonnie and Clyde [Blu-ray]]]).

The special features already announced, included in all the new releases, are these:

-- the full-length History Channel documentary about the real Bonnie and Clyde called "Love and Death: The Story of Bonnie and Clyde"

-- a new three-part documentary about the making and releasing of the film and its relation to the real Bonnie and Clyde: "Bonnie and Clyde's Gang," "The Reality and Myth of Bonnie and Clyde," and "Releasing Bonnie and Clyde"

-- two newly discovered deleted scenes

-- two trailers

-- Warren Beatty's wardrobe tests

(If you squint, you can more or less confirm these features from the photo of the back of the case shown for the Special Edition--click on the second thumbnail image to see the large version.)

The Ultimate Collector's Edition that was also announced will include the same DVDs plus some non-DVD extras: a 36-page hard-cover book of behind-the-scenes photos, a 24-page reproduction of the press book for the original 1967 release, and a mail-in offer for a poster. The Ultimate edition will reportedly only be available for a limited time.

The art work I've seen for the HD and Blu-ray releases (check dvdactive to see them all on one page) doesn't show all the non-DVD materials included in the art work for the Ultimate edition, so I'm unsure whether the same Ultimate package will be available for HD and Blu-ray. I see no pages at Amazon for HD or Blu-Ray Ultimate editions, and none was announced.

No commentary was announced, so I subtract one star. Possibly the making-of features will partially make up for the lack of commentary.
