The Bourne Ultimatum (Widescreen Edition) description
The often breathtaking, final installment in the Bourne trilogy finds the titular assassin with no memory closing in on his past, finally answering his own questions about his real identity and how he came to be a seemingly unstoppable killing machine. Matt Damon returns for another intensely physical performance as Jason Bourne, the rogue operative at war with the CIA, which made him who and what he is and managed to kill his girlfriend in the series' second film, The Bourne Supremacy. Now looking for payback, Bourne goes in search for the renegade chief of CIA operations in Europe and North Africa, partnering for a time with a mysterious woman from his past (Julia Stiles) and constantly--constantly--on the run from assassins, intelligence foot soldiers, and cops. Directed by Paul Greengrass (United 93) with the directors thrilling, trademark textures and shaky, documentary style, The Bourne Ultimatum is largely a succession of action scenes that reveal a lot about the storys characters while theyre under duress. Joan Allen, Albert Finney, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, and Paddy Considine comprise the films terrific supporting cast, and the well-traveled movie leads viewers through Turin, Madrid, Tangiers, Paris, London, and New York. Overall, this is a satisfying conclusion to Bournes exciting and protracted mystery. --Tom Keogh

Since all of the reviews on this excellent spy thriller have been on the Standard Def edition, this one is on the HD-DVD version. This edition is probably the best of the series and it's further enhanced by being in HD!! I first rented it from Netflix after seeing it in the theatres 3 months ago and their copy was so scratched that it froze in several spots that I wound up flipping it over (it's an HD/SD combo) and finishing it in Standard Def. Bought it in HD from you and the copy was in excellent shape. The disc is reference quality and keep in mind that it's only available in HD not Blu-ray. Perhaps that will change with the demise of HD and blu-ray being the winner but if you have a HD player and an action buff, I strongly recommend adding this to your collection along with "Shooter" ,"King Kong" and "The Matrix" series. |
