Hatari! description
Howard Hawks's 1962 adventure-comedy is basically the same, loosely plotted movie Hawks made over and over again for decades. A collection of professionals with a common goal--in this case, animal trapping in Tanganyika--forms a pocket community and holds each other to high standards in their work. This is a film about camaraderie, crisp banter, romance, and exciting action (the animal sequences are great). John Wayne played this part in about a thousand ways for Hawks over the years, and he could not be more entertaining as a grizzled pro. --Tom Keogh

♥♥♥♥♥ DANGER!
"We're running an elephant nursery-Mother!"-Sean Mercer (John Wayne)

Imagine having a 200 lb. baby! (That's the weight of a baby elephant when born). And I thought I had a weight problem! Baby elephants consume more than 10 liters of milk a day, so you can imagine the problem Sean Mercer (John Wayne) and his game hunters had on their hands when a baby elephant whose mother was shot and killed finds a substitute mother in Dallas (Elsa Martinelli), Sean Mercer's love interest. And baby Timba makes 2 other baby elephant friends a bit later.

I think I saw this when I was little, but am sure I only saw it once. I love this story. There's really no violence, only one rhino goring scene at the beginning, and no adult content and language. There's a lot of excitement, beautiful scenery, good script, great actors like Pockets (Red Buttons), and good clean fun. The story is light hearted and not tragic. Hatari is a great, classic film to have on hand. It must've been so much fun filming this movie in Tanganyika, East Africa with the native wildlife. I wonder how they managed to do so. Must have been fun for Dallas to have 3 baby elephants follow her everywhere. I love elephants!
