A Pleasing Twist
|
First, I have both 'Tour Generacion RBD En Vivo' and 'Live in Hollywood'. I have thoroughly enjoyed both of these items.
'Live in Hollywood' takes place later in their career as the songs on this DVD derive mostly from their 2nd album (Nuestro Amor) while 'Tour Generacion' derives from their 1st album (Rebelde).
People have different tastes. If you love the pop/studio quality/sound/style of the music that you hear on the CD, AND you don't see yourself veering away from that at all, then do NOT get this DVD. This concert takes the songs from the 2nd album and gives out a new interpretation on them. The new instrumental parts are very nice. All instruments are acoustic (being able to produce their own sound with significant volume) using the violin, acoustic guitar, cello, etc except for the electric bass. Personally, I LOVE natural/acoustic sounding stuff and love acoustic renditions of originally electric/technologically based songs. So, if you like stuff like this also, then definitely buy this.
Furthermore, if you would rather stick to the studio version style of the songs, then your bet would be the 'Tour Generacion' DVD.
One last thing to note to differentiate between the 2 DVD's. 'Live in Hollywood' being an acoustic/natural feel is naturally more restrained in its feel and attitude which is reflected in the show. It's more calm, smooth. I mean, which can you head bang to, Slipknot or John Mayer?? There are not as much of a dance performance aspect in this show as in 'Tour Generacion'. |
