A Classic Mix Of Comedie And Great Music
|
Wathing The Rhythm and Blues Revue reminded me of my youth - before rock and roll music and dirty comedy became normal in our society.
I found it very refreshing to see a movie that combines both music and comedie in a way that anyone can appreciate without being embarassed by.
The story itself is fairly classic - a group of performers get together and decide they need to put on a show to raise money and entertain people.
So when the revue starts it kicks off with a bunch of slapstick comedy. Back when I was younger, they used to be the way most revues started out. They would have comedians warm up the audience so that by the time the muscicians took the stage we'd be ready to enjoy ourselves.
The comedie is very family friendly and can be laughed at by anyone from age 8 to 80.
The music, of course, is the real centerpiece of this movie. It showcases Nat King Cole who is not known by a lot of young people today, but was very, very famous when I was young.
He puts on an amazing performance of the type of music you want to dance to while looking into your husband's eyes.
I was tapping my foot along with the music for the entire program and never once got bored or found anything objectionable.
Highly reccomended. |
