♥♥♥♥ Doesn't hold a candle to the original
This is one of those instances where you wish there was a rating lower than
1 star.

After watching SMJ I picked up the sequel SMJ to X and if only I'd have had a camera
to capture the shock and horror on my face when I first heard the english voice overs. Otaru sounds like a weed smoking "dude", Bloodberry now has the ability to talk through her nose, Lime's voice is a little older and with probably 0.2% of the emotion the original had, and I swear to God that Cherry's voice over actress starred on PBS's Bearstein Bears cartoon. What's funny is that the only person whos' voice is tolerable is Hanagata, who sounds like a guy who watched the first Saber Marionette and is trying his best to imitate. Not only are the voices for the character's messed up, but the acting of the english version is highschool play terrible. It's like they were TRYING to find the worst possible people for this anime. There were instances where I had to switch it over to Japanese audio so I could watch without feeling sick.

The next thing you're going to notice in Saber Marionette J to X is the animation has also taken a nose dive. While the colors are more solid and vibrant, the detailing is subpar. The use of rendering over done, and done poorly. Panning the camera and zoom in's on still images is done way too much, and there are times where the characters don't match up with the CG background. I also get the feeling that there are frame drops in some instances. All in all the whole thing feels like a corner cut rush job.

This anime is the reason why many hardcore anime fans choose to watch their DVD's in the Japanese audio. For me, this show has the absolute worst acting and voices I have heard in my entire life. If I ever got the pleasure of meeting the casting director for this DVD collection, I'd go up to shake his hand, and then just start kicking him in the nuts over and over again.

If you believe that money is to be spent on things that bring you joy and entertainment, you will not buy this disc.
