Saint Tail - Thief of Hearts description
Meimi Haneoka seems like an ordinary 14-year-old, but at night she becomes Saint Tail, a cat burglar-Robin Hood figure. She steals only from the dishonest and returns purloined jewels to their rightful owners. She learns about these injustices from "nun-in-training" Seira, who assures her of the morality of each assignment. Meimi's escapades attract the local police, whom she eludes as easily as the crooks, using a combination of supernatural powers and sleight-of-hand magic. A more challenging foe is her classmate Asuka Jr., an aspiring detective who's determined to capture Saint Tail. Based on a manga by Megumi Tachigawa, the series ran for two years in Japan (October 1995 to September 1996). American viewers will find that Saint Tail plays like a cross between Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura; Meimi is not as ditsy as Usagi/Serena, but she lacks Sakura's unassuming charm. Unrated; suitable for ages 8 and up: Minor cartoon violence. --Charles Solomon

♥♥♥♥♥ Poor, Sweet Saint Tail
I've been waiting for what seems FOREVER to watch this anime. Ever since I saw a clip of it on t.v. I've been meaning to watch this series but never got around to it until now. First of all I instantly liked the main character Meimi Haneoka. Compared to Sakura of Cardcaptor, Meimi acts more like a real person than any other mahou shoujo character I've seen. She gets angry, she feels sad, and generally reacts like I would expect a normal person to. Another thing I adore about this series are her parents who have a very sweet loving relationship.

The reason I only gave this DVD 3 stars is because of the god awful job Tokyopop did on it. First off, this DVD contains the karaoke version of the opening and closing sequence, second of all the translations for the subtitles contain inaccuracies. Last of all the audio on this DVD is horrible and sounds like it was recorded straight from the television set. This DVD alone doesn't do any justice to this incredibly sweet and romantic series.
