| The comments of a previous user mirror mine; I'm never one to like movies aimed at a teenage demographic, and in fact, consider a number of more gruesome films to be among my favorites. However, there's just no denying "Wish Upon a Star." Like most people, I first encountered this movie on the Disney Channel when I was younger, and managed to see it a large number of times due to the fact that it was constantly on. It's been some seven-odd years since I last saw it, and after viewing it again today, I'm amazed to proclaim that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, there's definitely the nostalgia factor; it really captured the feel of the 90s, especially with the classic 90s alt-rock/pop sound of Moonpools and Caterpillars on the film's soundtrack (look for the band "performing" live in the closing scene). It was also interesting to watch it from an adult perspective (now I understand what the characters meant when they discussed virginity), as well as seeing all of the little bits that Disney trimmed to make it more palatable for younger audiences. Nostalgia notwithstanding, however, "Wish Upon a Star" is simply a fun, enjoyable film. Sit back, relax, and throw out your inhibitions about watching a teenage-geared movie, and you're guaranteed to have a blast. | |
