I hope you like the film. My grandfather helped build the igloos during the contruction of the Umatilla Chemical Weapons Depot right before World War II. I thought it would be great to make a documentary about him and the Depot. The US Army at the depot was very gracious in letting me and my cameraman into the depot for a tour on-air. This all happened on Sept 10th, 2001, the day before the trajedies of Sept 11th. Both my cameraman and I were flabbergasted to learn about how little security was there at the Depot, and more important, about the leaking rockets and the controversies surrounding the depot among the local residents. This film documents our journey to learn about Umatilla and to show the people from all sides of the controversy. Our goal was to help show audiences worldwide that there really is danger lurking in our Oregon backyards, from these leaking chemical weapon rockets.
