almost perfect!

Hello. I bought this projector directly from Epson before the summer and love it. I love the fact that we can set up our own drive-in outside during the summer and have hosted a drive-in night almost every weekend.
On the negative side though...I have also found a problem with the height adjustment as well. The machine does have a bit of height adjustment available but mine does not make it to the screen from the floor either (or even from a coffee table). I do have to elevate the machine up so that it is more level with the picture I want to produce. I have also found a problem with the volume outside. When running the machine inside it seems quite loud but when you are outside the volume seems too dispursed and does not produce a loud enough sound (especially on quiet movies without all the "action"). I have not been able to find a way to set up extra speakers to this to make it louder when using it outside. I know this unit can be hooked up to your tv and stereo unit but have not done that. Since I have no problem with the volume inside and have no intention of bringing my entire "stereo system" outside, I think this will still be a problem.
On the plus side....It's a great value for the money and I love being able to have my own drive in nights outside. I even take it with me camping and I am the envy of many other campers on their "walks". I made my own screen for outdoors (I do also have the duet screen which I use indoors but do not take it out so that I do not ruin it). The projection of the machine can get MUCH larger then the screen allows and I have 2 king size sheets sewn together and it could still get bigger if I wanted it to. The picture is still crystal clear even at this size of picture.
So as a wrap up...The volume is low if played outside but great if you are inside. The height does need to be adjusted and can not be played quite as easy as it says. It's a great value for the money when you are comparing to other machines that do the same thing for thousands more. The picture is very clear and the fact that you can just throw your dvd in it is great. (no hook ups to a tv required, so it can be played anywhere). I would buy it again! |
