don't bother "programming" the Sony changer -- use your computer!
|
I have been using one of these Sony changers for a couple of years, and have *never* bothered to enter any information into the changer. Who wants to (a) enter the data into a changer, and then (b) hunt down movies by scrolling through hundreds of entries on a small display?
A far simpler and better solution is to keep track of your movies on a computer. I use the "DVD Profiler" software, which also has an online database of thousands of movies. You install the software on your PC (sorry, no Mac version), and then enter in titles. You can enter using the barcode number, but I prefer to simply start typing the title; it then shows you matches as you go. It then downloads all of the album art, info on actors, directors, etc. to your PC. You can then search for movies using your computer -- or print a list for easy reference.
When you enter the movies, you will want to also enter (a) the changer number (in case you get another changer :-), and (b) the "slot" for the movie. After you have picked a movie to watch, you simply "dial-in" the disc number on the Sony and you're done.
A final cool tidbit: DVD Profiler also lets you upload your list of DVDs to your own private "webspace" on their site. You can then access the list from any web device -- such as a Blackberry. Kinda handy when you're at the store, and wonder if you already own title XYZ.
