I regret to say anyone who posted more than three STARS for this monitor is either a beginner to the digital world or simply not savvy with HD experience.
This is a great monitor if used as a computer monitor that doesn't involved with extensive 3-D images; this is due its high 1920x1080 native pixel resolution. I didn't get a chance to try gaming on this unit, so no comment can be made.
However, as a TV monitor, it simply must be considered as inferior one. The black level is either black or gray, it's somewhere between gray and dark green. The picture quality can be described as clean but rather soft with strong lacking of details. At 1000:1 contrast ratio, the screen is fairly bright, but it washes out easily especially when the main object and background are both light colors. Color reproduction is dull and saturation is soggy.
With average retail at $1,700, this set lacks a TV tuner and several key features. If you want to take the HD experience to its highest level, for a hundred dollars more......go get a LG DU37LZ30. This is a beautifully made unit that fits any home dA cor and the picture is equally brilliant...selling at Circuit City for less than $2,200. Or better yet, buy a Hitachi 37HDL52. This is absolutely the best 37" LCD HDTV money can buy if you don't mind getting an absolutely the worst remote control at the same time. Selling at www.jr.com for slightly under $2,300.
