♥♥♥♥♥ Great value - network/usb features are invaluable
I've only really used this receiver for a week but so far I like it. This is my second Yamaha receiver after the still-functioning RX-V870 that I bought in 1993! What sold me on this receiver was 1) Yamaha brand 2) Network/Internet Radio/USB capabilities and 3) Price.

1) I can't deny it. I'm a Yamaha guy. If my first receiver was an Onkyo, I'd probably have bought another Onkyo.
2) Network and USB capabilities are what sets this receiver apart. I have thousands of mp3s on my PC and it is very easy to stream them over your home network. I wanted to listen to Japanese radio stations and I can now do so and you don't even need the PC on. And I can simply plug in a flash drive with mp3s and play music off of there. Very nifty, very convenient.
3) With the new Amazon credit card, I basically paid $200 for this excellent, high quality, high powered, high featured receiver.

Misses
- The on screen menus are very archaic and can only display a limited number of characters. Also, over-the-network and internet radio browsing could be easier - I thought the remote had a wheel on the side so you can scroll through page after page of mp3 or radio listings quickly, but you can't - you must scroll one page at a time. This is annoying.
- mp3 playback is limiting. You can not rewind or fast forward. You can only track back or track advance. This is fine when all your mp3s are singles and each one is only a few minutes long. But most of my music consists of DJ livesets of electronic dance music which can be an hour, two, or three plus hours long. I wish I could fast forward to my fav parts at min 68 for example (better yet, be able to advance 10 min chunks at a time).
- No HDMI of any sort - but then I knew that before buying and I'm fine with it and considering the price, I can't complain.
- Remote feels cheap and can't learn. Guess I'll have to invest in a Logitech.

Like many other reviewers, I've researched for a long time before selecting a receiver. I've looked at the bottom-of-the-barrel, yet highly rated TX-SR304, the highly regarded midrange TX-SR605, Harmon Kardon AVR-347, etc. But at the end of the day, the price and network features sold me.

My only concern looking at the future of this receiver is that the future is limited. Yamaha will probably discontinue this soon if they hadn't already, and with that goes any chances for new firmware for better on screen display or mp3 fast forward capabilities. Also, there's not too much hype about this receiver from the online community, so the chances of getting a fan-made firmware or modifications are slim.
