Nice player - crappy software
|
The IPod touch has the nicest-looking display of any mp3 player or PDA I have used. The touch screen is intuitive, and with only one key (the button at the bottom), its pretty easy to use.
I have a few cons:
Volume control. Embedded in the settings section, the volume control is hard to get to as song volumes change. Some songs are just louder than others. If youve ripped your own, recorded streaming music, or purchased stuff online, volumes can range quite a bit. Why isnt a volume control on the screen?
iTunes. Its horrible. First of all they want you to pay for the "free software", even $3... which you can then "cancel later". Sounds a lot like an AOL sub to me. Easy to get - hard to get rid of. I downloaded an old version off the net, and let it do its own update.
You cant just browse your folders. You have to "add them". OF course if you add more music to your folder later, you have to "add" each song individually, or re-add the entire folder.
I prefer drag-and-drop from folders, but hey, its built around the mac, so I guess it SHOULD seem backwards.
Other than that, Ive had no issues. Recharges right from the USB port (about time someone figured that out), so no extra cables to lug around. The fingertip keyboard is functional, but if you have big hands, get used to typing with a pinky. No stylus will work with it, which might work better.
All in all a good purchase. Id get another one, but I like my PDA with word-to-go. |
