Good for the Money
|
This speaker is designed specifically for a situation where stereo sound is not optimal; for example, in the kitchen or dining room. By placing a left and right channel tweater, the sound is mixed in a single speaker. This does mean you have to run both the left and right channel wire to the speaker. The best use of this speaker is to have non-directional sound in each room rather than to blast your one stereo in order to hear it from every room.
The size of the woofer is, of course, going to limit the bass response. Heavy bass listeners should add a dedicated sub or at least consider in-wall speakers with larger woofers. The speaker does not come with on-speaker eq's. I recommend using an eq at the stereo base to balance the speaker in order to obtain full statisfaction of the sound. It initially was heavy in the highs (as expected when using two tweeters and only one small sub). Don't get me wrong, it's not hard to have a nice, balanced sound from the RC6's.
Over all I'm very happy with the quality and sound. It works great for parties, gatherings, and general listening when I don't feel like being tied down to a seat. The price vs. quality compares to that of many more expensive models. Of course, for serious listening (audiophile and/or home theater), just about every model by every company of in-ceiling/wall speakers obviously won't do. |
