♥♥♥♥♥ Incredible LCD!
I normally never leave a review on line but after researching the Samsung 71 series and Sony XBR4 TVs for over 5 months, I feel it is important to share my opinion on these two. Samsung was the first LCD I actually saw in real life. I have to admit, the picture quality was absolutely incredible. It was without a doubt the best picture I had ever seen. Because of that, I was a little biased with regards to the Samsung. I didn't get a chance to see the Sony LCD until a month later, and the picture quality was also just as incredible and breathtaking. It is unfortunate, but I did not get the chance to compare them side-by-side but I can tell you they are very, very close in terms of picture quality.

In reviewing prices, the Sony XBR4 was always at least $400 more at any given time than the Samsung. When deciding to spend a sizable amount of money on a TV, especially when the picture quality was so close, I felt that the extra cash was probably not worth it. I began reading as many reviews as I could to help me in making my decision and found that the Samsung had a number of issues, some sporadic and some fairly common, ie: TBE (triple ball effect), dead pixels, ect. While the Samsung LN-T5271 has more reviews than Sony KDL-52XBR4, the Sony reviews have only 13% that are 4 stars or less. The Samsung has over 20% of the total reviews coming in at 4 stars or less. After reading about firmware updates, color calibration and possible fixes for the Samsung, I decided to go with the Sony. I can tell you the peace of mind I have in knowing that I have a quality product rated at the top of the list regarding picture quality and consumer satisfaction is more than worth the few extra hundred dollars I paid. I assure you will not be disappointed with the Sony KDL-52XBR4.
