Aeropad -- jury still out!

It is not easy to find air interface products for the older (one year old) Mac computers. If it doesn't fit Airport Express you have to look for some other alternative. I tried other products that just did not work at all.
The Aeropad Mini is a good alternative, but is not easy to set up and then to trouble shoot. Because the Aeropad is on the ethernet side of the computer and there are no software drivers; there is no indicator that there is a live object on the net. The only clue you get that something is wrong is that there is no connectivity. Should be some kind of icon in the tool bar that there is some signal or ?...
For some reason the Aeropad will just drop out and you need to go through the set up proceedure again. I called the company and they could not help, although when I told them it was connected through my ethernet hub, they said that it was not designed for hub connection.....well how do I connect my ethernet printer?
It does work through the hub but, does this cause the lost IP address?
I am putting up with the ocasional drop outs but am not totally satisfied as it is really a pain to have to go through the set up again and again. |
