Cerwin-Vega CLSC-12 Classic Series 12-Inch 3-Way Tower Speaker, Black Ash (Single) description
The most popular tower model in the Classic series, the Cerwin-Vega CLSC-12 loudspeaker offers high-quality three-way performance in a stylish black ash enclosure. The speaker is outfitted with a 12-inch cone woofer, a 6.5-inch midrange, and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter, which combine to produce a wide-ranging 28 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. The results are remarkably gratifying whether the listener is enjoying the latest surround sound movie soundtrack, a state-of-the-art multichannel audio format such as SACD or DVD-Audio, or a traditional two-channel stereo CD.

The woofer owes its elite performance to its custom-designed cast-aluminum frame, fiber-impregnated cellulose cone, and huge high-temperature voice coils. The construction details create a powerful bass response and--in tandem with the midrange driver--a much more pleasing middle that extends well beyond the weak, distorted mids commonly associated with large-driver two-way speakers. The proprietary, computer-optimized mid- and high-frequency waveguide, meanwhile, helps integrate the higher frequencies, so listeners won't have to endure "gaps" in the sound when listening to soaring movies or music.

The speaker is packaged individually, so listeners will want to buy another CLSC-12 (each speaker can handle up to 300 watts of peak power) to create a seamless stereo setup. As an alternative, listeners can blend the CLSC-12 with other Cerwin-Vega Classic series speakers--such as the CLSC-6 bookshelf surround speaker (ideal for the rear channels) and the CLSC-6C center speaker--to enjoy full-fledged home theater sound. And though a subwoofer is generally recommended for home theater use, the CLSC-12's low bass rating of 28 Hz renders it unnecessary unless you really want to rattle the floorboards.

The CLSC-12 measures 14 by 37 by 11.7 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a five-year warranty on parts and labor.

♥♥♥♥♥ Earthquake In Florida
Good God, it felt like an Earthquake going on in Florida with these babies as they were shaking my house at higher volumes. Paintings fell off the wall, glasses & dishes rattling in the kitchen. The sound imaging at all volumes, is extremely clear and crisp, very good mids and highs, great separation and the bass hits you in the chest like a Tyson blow. I've been looking for almost a year now and most of the towers speakers out there are weak in there outputs and imaging, these are as good, if not better then every other brand I've heard in person at Best Buy's, Circuit City and Sound Advice for under $600 each range.

Your Home Theater experiences will be beyond what you can imagine, especially with explosions, gun fire, car/cycle sounds and even soft sounds like chimes and whispers of the wind or fire crackles of a candle. I all ready had a JBL 12" E250P power sub, alone with my older 15", 4way Pioneers, but changing them to these, improved my overall sound quality 110%. Listening to Jazz/Classical/old and new school music was a wonderful delight. My 6.1 110W/Chan Onkyo receiver was able to blow the fuses at the 64 setting, but I've read elsewhere, it was recommended to replace them with higher Amp fuse anyway. These look and sound great and for under $200 each to my door, you won't go wrong with the CLSC-12's.
