GE DGE100N DVD Player description
This GE DVD Player has a slim design that will fit nicely into your home theater. Viewing digital photos will be even more special when they're on television--just slide a JPEG-encoded CD-R or CD-RW in and hit play. You can also listen to favorite CDs and MP3 CDs. The player is compatible with DVD-Video, VCD, DVD+W, DVD+R, DVD-W, DVD+RW, DVD-R, audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and JPEG- and MP3-encoded discs, as well as both three-inch and standard five-inch sizes. Composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.

A single set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or six-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: SRS TruSurround simulates surround sound through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on your TV).

Playback options include multi-speed smooth scan and slow motion, frame advance, DVD and CD programming and repeat modes (disc, title, chapter, track, A-B), DVD and CD random play, parental lock, and picture zoom. The player comes with a composite-video/stereo analog-audio interconnect, user's manual, and a multi-brand remote control that operates the DVD player and most RCA, GE, and Proscan televisions.

♥♥♥♥ Completely Unreliable
I don't know if this player is still being sold but if so, steer clear of it. When it works, mine works reasonably well but it rarely works. Most of the time it gives me a "no disc" message when it has just spooled up a DVD that works in every other player I have.

More interesting is GE's response to this. They don't acknowledge that it even exists. Could it be some kind of illegal copy, I ask? No response. I think they know there's something wrong with it.

The only good thing about it was the price, but on a per-play basis, I probably should have bought a different player. What also bothers me is what this says about GE. Would this be true of all their other products? I wonder.
