Sturdy and portable
|
I really like this unit and have had no trouble with it. It's intuitive and simple to use. I really like the ability to switch between aspect ratio sizes with the push of a button, rather than sorting through menus with the remote. I also like the contrast button on the side of the unit. The screen is large and clear.
The unit feels sturdy--it has some heft to it and doesn't feel like it would shatter if you would drop it. The battery pack stays on well, and when you flip the unit open, it stays open without jiggling. It also reads disks quickly and easily; I rarely have to pop the player open and resituate the DVD to make it play.
The battery life isn't particularly good--I'm lucky if I get 3 hours--but it's better than a laptop. Inconveniently, the remote must be used to fast-forward. The unit comes with a car adapter, which is convenient for car trips. In addition, before the unit is used, it's helpful to adjust the aspect ratio with the remote so widescreen movies will fill the whole screen. Otherwise, it inexplicably makes black bars around a smaller image in the middle. |
