Good but not durable headphones
|
I have owned a pair of these headphones for several years now, and the sound is just fine for the money. Nothing jaw-dropping, but good, neutral sound.
What's not so great is the foam used for the cushions that fit against your ears. After 2-3 years the foam dries out/rots and crumbles, leaving black crumbs on everything it touches. I've bought replacement foam cushions once, and my replacement pair has disentegrated as well (I was hoping they would improve the formula, but alas no).
Also the plastic frame surrounding /holding the phones has cracked on one side of headphones. I'm pretty gentle with my audio gear, using it around the house mostly, and I was suprised to see this happen.
I wouldn't buy another pair of SR80s, because I use headphones only occassionally and expect them to last many years. If I used them daily and expected to wear them out in 2-3 years, I might buy another pair. |
