Too costly for serious backup
|
This product may be fine for the home user with small infrequent backups. But with LTO2 drives starting at $1500 and 200GBnative/400GBcompressed tapes costing $35 each, the cost of the media will quickly overwhelm the savings in the drive for any larger/more frequent backup routine. This format is far too costly for archive media as well.
Iomega has been trying for years to create another winner like the Zip drive, but they've failed to recognize it's been done with DVD-R and soon with HDDVD/Blu-Ray. There simply isn't a need for a high priced product like this. If the units were $100 and the media were $10, they'd have a chance. |
