JVC AV34WP84 34" Widescreen HD-Ready Flat-Screen TV (Silver) description JVC's 34-inch widescreen AV-34WP84 offers a 16:9 aspect ratio to match the dimensions of your favorite feature films and much of the high-definition (HDTV) broadcasting you'll be in a position to enjoy with an AV-34WP84 gracing your living room. The CRT television--a member of JVC's acclaimed I'Art Pro family of monitors--uses a flat-screen tube to minimize geometric image distortions and contrast-sapping glare from reflected light. You'll need an outboard ATSC digital tuner or set-top box for digital TV reception, but whether you're using a progressive-scan DVD player or a true high-definition source component, this set offers a bevy of high technologies--many of them proprietary--to ensure stellar images from any source. The set incorporates JVC's DIST (Digital Image Scaling Technology) 1500i, which upconverts and displays all signals in 1500i resolution. That means more you'll view everything with more than a thousand horizontal scan lines--almost triple the number from DVD players. JVC has updated its DSD (Digital Super Detail) circuitry with HD DSD edge correction, and the 10.7-million-pixel Natural Progressive technology doubles the image data in each field and uses 3D interpolation to display a solid image with no noticeable scanning lines, eliminating jagged edge noise and image trails--before the image ever makes it to your screen. The AV-34WP84's 16 MEGA 10-bit 3D Y/C digital comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Other enhancements include TheaterPro 6500K color temperature, Digital Noise Clear circuitry, Natural Cinema 3:2 pulldown (with on/off capability) for all telecine (film-based) sources, selectable velocity scan modulation, and convenient front-panel inputs for your camcorder or gaming console. PIP (picture-in-picture) features include dual NTSC tuners with split-screen, POP, and 12-multi-index window display. Now you can watch 2 programs simultaneously or watch one while recording another to your DVR or VCR. A DVI input with HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) lets you enjoy uncompressed transmission and display of high-definition digital content. Connections include dual auto-sensing component-video inputs to ensure the best possible picture quality, whether the source is HD cable, HD satellite, DVD, or D-VHS. The set also features 3 S-video inputs (one of which numbers among the front-panel inputs), and 4 composite-video-based AV inputs.
