A Complete Nightmare!!
|
This DVD writer was a complete nightmare for me. I purchased it before a vacation and installed it when I returned. I realized it was not working properly, but it was past the return period. Basically, the DVD writer can read and write to CDs, read DVDs, but can't write to ANY DVD media of any brand or any speed rating (Verbatim, TDK, Memorex, Ritek, 8x, 16x, +/-, etc)! When I called Pioneer, they told me that I NEED TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING COST to get this back to them. After two weeks, I called to follow up and NO ONE can even find it at the factory! But somehow, it was returned to me as "repaired" almost 2 months later!! To top all this off, it has the exact same problem as before, causing me to wast 3 more disks on top of the 8 I already wasted! Now I'd have to send it back AGAIN! This is definitely the worst customer service I have ever encountered from any electronic manufacturer.
Since I can't do without a DVD writer for four months, I decided to purchase the NEC ND-3540A. What a relief!!! It reads and writes to EVERYTHING I can throw at it, at a high speed. I will never buy another Pioneer product again, and I urge you to avoid the nightmare that I can't seem to get out of!!! I am not the only guy here. Read the reviews on CNET and others. The bad customer service and very poor quality control is widely reported for this DVD writer. |
