Philips 55PP9352 Epic 55" Digital Widescreen HDTV-Ready TV description Philips' 55-inch 55PP9352 is tailor-made for producing progressive-scan DVD playback and high-definition broadcast programming with clarity and vivid color. The widescreen aspect-ratio (16:9) set delivers 1080i high-definition signals at full resolution when connected to an optional digital set-top box. Now you'll be able to revel in every drop of water, each soaring aerial shot in your favorite programming, whether off-air HDTV broadcasts or DVDs played through top-of-the-line progressive-scan DVD players. Technologies like 35-point digital convergence, Automatic Phosphor Aging Compensation (APAC, which automatically shifts your television picture in very small increments to defray image burn-in), and Active Control (which continuously analyzes the picture to control digital noise reduction and sharpness) enhance the picture in subtle but meaningful ways. Other features include: Multipoint digital convergence: Designed to meet the demands of curved CRT faceplates and short focal length lenses, Philips' expansive 35-point convergence brings with it the accuracy of digital technology for flawless convergence of red, green, and blue guns and a superb picture with no colored haloes. Eye Fidelity: Progressive Scan/Interlaced: Eye Fidelity gives the consumer a choice between 2 different scanning techniques--Progressive Scan and Interlaced. Progressive Scan doubles the number of visible picture lines per field by displaying all picture frame lines at once--also eliminating line flicker. The Interlaced mode provides for a double vertical display (interlaced) of progressive scan, which reduces annoying motion artifacts. The Interlaced mode also helps smooth out jagged lines sometimes seen on curved and angled surfaces.
