QMotions Golf Full-Motion PC Game Controller with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 description
Most golf video games are intensely accurate except for one little thing--clicking a mouse or a game controller feels nothing like swinging an actual club. That's why this full-motion PC game controller from QMotions is such a thrill. The device, which consists of a golf ball, a swing-arm assembly, and a swatch of artificial turf (think driving range), reads your actual golf swing and translates it directly into the video game, so every killer cut produces a straight-down-the-middle drive, while every duffer swipe ends up in a nasty sandtrap (or worse). The controller is ideal for golfers who want to add excitement and intrigue to their favorite golf vids, or for folks who want to work on their swing mechanics without heading to the practice range. As a further enticement, the controller comes with a PC copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004--the golf world's best-known title.

The controller's circuitry may be sophisticated, but the concept is simple: each time you swing a club, the device recognizes your swing speed and measures your club head's directional impact. It then interprets the information, predicts the results, and translates it onscreen, so the ball flies with the same speed and direction it would in real life. The controller is also sensitive to different club head speeds, so it knows whether you're swinging a driver, a fairway wood, or a short iron.

In other words, you're rewarded (or penalized, depending on your skills) for whipping out a driver for a tee shot, a wedge for a short pitch, or a long iron for a punch shot. Should your playing space prove too small for swinging woods or long irons, you can also elect to play all the shots with a short club, and the software will make the appropriate speed and distance adjustments as though you were using a longer club.

The QMotions controller makes practice much more fun than using a swing trainer or a plastic putting toy, as the results of each swing are displayed in high-definition splendor. Another bonus is the Swing Statistics mode, which lets you track your swing mechanics and improvements over time. At the same time, novice golfers needn't shy away from the controller, as it includes several levels of difficulty, from expert mode for longtime golfers to rookie mode for newbies.

Perhaps most enticingly for the hardcore golf fan, the controller is compatible with all the championship courses on PGA Tour 204. The only thing better would be an actual free round at St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, and Pinehurst, but this is the next best thing. Your only limitations are space and computer power, as the QMotions controller needs an 800 MHz Pentium III PC running Windows XP or better, with 256 MB of RAM memory. In addition, it helps to have a 128 MB video card, as the controller is graphics-intensive.

So whether you're looking to improve the shortcomings of a weak overall game or you love the idea of swinging away during the cold winter months, the QMotions full-motion golf controller is a must.

♥♥♥♥♥ brilliat golf simulator with tiger woods 2005 or links golf 2003
This produced was first sold back in 2004, but hasn't aged a bit.

Brilliat when play with links golf 2003 or tiger woods 2005 as real to golf as u can get for the price.

The pc version can work both with links golf 2003 and Tiger woods 2004 and 2005. Not sure if future driver will be available to support TW 2006.

The distances for full swings recorded in the links golf game are fairly reaslistic - I would say 80-90% accurate compared to my actual distance - it is certainly not a suggested or illusory figure based on the club which I choose or the swing distance I assign to that club in the game setting (for links 2003).

It could have been just as realistic in TW 2005 had it not been the rather long roll which a golf shot has in TW2005 (even with the fairway condition set to very wet). Hey it may be to the default setting of the game rather than the device. It would be nice if this could be corrected in the 2006 game.

Golf shot directions are based on how the clubhead contacts the golf ball at impact. If square at the sweepspot, then the shot is straught. If club face is open when the ball is struck, the shot flies to the right, the more open, the more to the right. If club face closes, the shot is left. The phyhsics make sense to me. Hey it is impossible to really simulate all possible permutations how a shot can go wrong or can be shaped..

The distances for putting is not as good as those for full swings.. but there is also sensitivtiy setting which can be pre-set to lowest so that a swing for a short putt will only just be a short putt in the game rather than rolling to a long distance.. . anyway a steeper learning curve is required for using this device for putting - i would think that after adjusting to it - it is not as frustrating as it first appeared to be - and its certainly workable and more realistic than it first appear.

Similar comment for using this device for chipping.. distance not so accurately gauged. but still acceptable

overall 9 out of 10 - for the unbeatable price - and also for the numouers golf courses downloadable from the net for links golf 2003 and tiger woods 2004/5 to play with
