Samsung HCL4715W 47" Widescreen High-Definition Projection TV description
Transform your living room into a luxurious movie theater with Samsung's widescreen, rear-projection HCL4715W. The set's 47-inch viewing area is set in a smart-looking medium-gray cabinet, and the unit is equally compatible with progressive-scan DVD players and DTV set-top boxes. Whether your passion is DVDs, sports, or movies, the HCL4715W delivers outstanding performance and convenience.

At the heart of the set, 3 high-resolution 7-inch liquid-cooled CRTs power Samsung's RealFlect video system. The system includes data-grade lenses for optimum picture detail and a first-surface mirror to ensure high brightness and image clarity. Samsung's PerfectFocus auto-convergence system corrects picture focus at the push of a button (9-point manual adjustment is also an option). Flicker-free progressive-scan picture performance eliminates scan lines visible in analog projection sets. Its 30-watt stereo audio system (15 watts per channel x 2) delivers ample sound for any entertainment venue.

The set's widescreen aspect ratio is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players, as well as for the growing availability of broadcast programming from HDTV tuners, cable boxes, and satellite receivers. The HDTV component-video inputs accommodate any add-on HDTV tuners, HD satellite receivers, and HD cable boxes that output 1080i-format component-video (Y, Pb, Pr). NTSC-to-480p line doubling takes interlaced inputs (as those from VCRs and non-progressive-scan DVD players) and converts it to a sharper, clearer progressive-scan.

Further, a 3-line digital comb filter improves the picture quality of all analog video sources by reducing "dot crawl" caused by incorrect color processing (most noticeable near borders and the edges of contrasting areas). Picture-format size adjustment compensates for different video formats by digitally expanding the picture to fill the screen. The "aspect" button on the remote toggles through the set's 5 options: zoom 1, zoom 2, stretch, panorama, and native format.

Dual-tuner picture-in-picture enables convenient simultaneous viewing of 2 TV programs. Remote control PIP functions include the mixing a TV source and a video source, and second-screen size and positioning on the TV screen. A universal remote control permits control over the TV, DVD, VCR, and cable box.

What's in the Box
TV, remote control, remote batteries, 4 casters with accompanying caster trays, a user's manual, and warranty information.

♥♥♥♥ Piece of Cr$5 - no customer service
I have owned this set since June 11, 2002. It first broke on January 4, 2003 and was not repaired until February 10. Samsung admitted they had 'parts availability problems.' Then, on July 6, 2003, it failed again and as of August 6, 2003, remains dark with again, 'parts availability problems.' Samsung can not promise me ANY date it will be working, can promise no date for delivery of parts and generally does not follow-up or return telephone calls. I have hired a lawyer since after $1800 - they have very poor customer and warranty service - spend the $200 and buy a Mitsubishi.
