Samsung TXM3096HF 30" Widescreen DynaFlat HDTV-Ready TV description
Get detailed and go wide with Samsung's 30-inch-diagonal DynaFlat widescreen TXM3096HF. The set comes loaded with a host of high-tech image enhancements, including a flat, anti-distortion, anti-glare CRT, Invar Shadow Mask (an alloy material that increases focus and brightness without sacrificing color purity), and Samsung's ProPicture three-stage video enhancement. ProPicture enhancement comprises three features. Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) converts standard analog TV signals to digital, compensating for varying signal strengths in the process. Pro Chip Plus Natural Scan Line Doubling converts NTSC signals to 480p, dramatically improving any video source to 480p progressive picture quality. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Finally, three-line Defining Filter combing technology enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line). Another picture enhancement is velocity-scan modulation, which improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. The set pumps out stereo audio with 10 watts per channel. Two sets of HD component-video 1080i/480p/480i jacks foster hookup with a DTV set-top box and a progressive-scan DVD player, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. One side and three rear audio/video inputs accommodate your other entertainment equipment. |

16:9 for under 1K? - Awesome!
|
| A great value! OK, firstly the bad... Unit has a somewhat clumsy input selection between inputs (have to always go thru AV1,AV2,AV3 to get to Svideo), a non-adjustable and non-stored picture sizing,(wide is good for DVD, panorama stretches edges of 4:3, and 2 fixed zoom modes for letterbox, but unit always defaults to wide), a rather weak NTSV via-air tuner (needed a signal amplifier) and only 1 side mounted S-Video jack is available. These are my ONLY complaints... Otherwise, for the money, it is the best television I have ever owned. It's not a $4,000 Sony, and I acknowlege that, but it's got a mighty good picture when connected to a progressive scan DVD, or to the satellite via the S-Video input. Why buy 4:3 when you can have 16:9, and why buy fuzzy and blotchy projection when you can have a sharp and bright direct-view flat CRT? |
