Samsung TXM3298HF 32" Neo Slim Design DynaFlat HDTV description
Big and wide is the way to go for home theater, and Samsung's 32-inch-diagonal DynaFlat widescreen TXM3298HF fills the bill. The high-definition ready set (480p/1080i) comes loaded with a host of high-tech image enhancements, including a flat, anti-distortion/anti-glare CRT, Invar Shadow Mask (an alloy material that increases focus and brightness without sacrificing color purity), and Samsung's ProPicture 3-Stage Video Enhancement.

ProPicture enhancement enfolds three different features. Total DSP (Digital Signal Processing) converts standard analog TV signals to digital, compensating for varying signal strengths in the process. Pro Chip Plus Natural Scan Line Doubling converts NTSC signals to 480p, dramatically improving any video source to 480p progressive picture quality. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

Three-line comb-filter technology enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt).

Another picture enhancement is velocity-scan modulation, which improves the definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas.

The set pumps out stereo audio with 10 watts per channel and also includes a 25-watt powered subwoofer in the rear of the cabinet for deep, rich bass. Two sets of HD component-video 1080i/480p/480i jacks foster hookup with a DTV set-top box and a progressive-scan DVD player, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. One side and 3 rear audio/video inputs accommodate your other entertainment equipment.

♥♥♥♥♥ Excellent TV for the money
I've had this TV now for about 6 mos. and am very happy with it. However, I also bought the Samsung HD TS160 Directv converter and realized once I got it home that the TV did not have DVI (HDCP) input and was very disappointed. However, I got the TV for a very good price here at Amazon and can't complain. It was my fault I did not look for that interface on the TV and believe me I really did a lot of research. The one other thing I wish this had was the capability, ala Sony, to detect automatically and change from 16:9 to 4:3 or vica versa on it's own. Other than this, the picture is excellent, I mean really, really nice.
