Sharp Aquos LC-13B6U-S 13" Flat-Panel LCD TV description Even where your space is limited, there's always room for a little fun. A member of Sharp's acclaimed AQUOS line, Sharp's 13-inch LC-13B6U-S LCD TV provides an ideal means for enjoying TV, DVDs, and/or videocassettes in the kitchen, bedroom, or dorm room. The monitor includes a built-in 181-channel cable tuner--feed it a cable-TV signal and you've got a high-resolution video display and a full-fledged television. For a screen, the set uses Sharp's proprietary Advanced Super View LCD panel. Its 4:3 aspect ratio is perfectly suited to most broadcast TV programs. This is an EDTV monitor, which means it's a step closer to high-definition or HDTV than standard TVs. When used with a progressive-scan DVD player (or 480p-output DTV set-top box) you'll get seamless, razor-sharp images from your favorite movies and concert videos. The set gives you a higher contrast ratio and wider viewing angles than conventional LCD screens--500:1 and a full 170 degrees viewing angle, vertical and horizontal--while its black TFT antiglare coating makes it bright enough to view its rich colors with ease, even in well-lit rooms. LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, light weight/easy positioning, and energy efficiency (most LCDs use substantially less power than their CRT equivalents). They also tend to be cheaper and, to some eyes, slightly more natural looking than their plasma flat-panel counterparts, which usually "spec" higher (higher brightness, higher contrast ratio).
