Delivering 90 watts per channel across six channels and featuring 7.1 channel decoding with auto up-conversion--which means that signals are converted to 7.1 automatically--the STR-DE698 is the most affordable 7.1-channel receiver on the market and will deliver the sound you need, and then some.
And, of course, the DE698 includes Sony's proprietary Digital Cinema Sound System with Cinema Studio EX A/B/C Modes, a group of exclusive Sony algorithms that represent a total rethinking of home theater sound. Based on careful measurements of movie-production dubbing stages in Hollywood, Cinema Sound recreates true movie theater sound in your home by emulating the spacious acoustic environment of a movie theater. Even if your television is only 10 feet away, you'll experience that "big room" sound you get from the theater.
