Great concept, however...

I imported this device via 'Shop Any American Store' for 100 USD [excl. customs] since Brookstone nor Amazon sell it internationally. I really liked the concept of a Bluetooth transmitter with a replaceable [AAA]battery instead of the contemporary hype of devices with built in Lithium-ion batteries that die within three years [used or not], taking the device with them into the grave. On top of that, it's so much more convenient to replace an empty battery with a [pre-charged] battery instead of recharging the device itself, making it useless for hours. Also, there are many situations that don't offer the possibility to recharge a portable product [like walking in the streets, to give a simple example]. Changing a battery can be done in a matter of seconds, practically everytime and everywhere.
Since I always want to have a charged Bluetooth transmitter at hand I own many of them [the Lithium-ion variety that is: the Brookstone one is the only exception that I know of] and they are all universal: it doesn't matter which brand of Bluetooth headset I use [have many of them too for the same reason...], they are always compatible with transmitters of other brands.
But alas...my Brookstone Bluetooth Transmitter is not.
To put it more strongly: I suppose the poor thing is universally INcompatible [for certain with major brands like Sony, Philips and Logitech anyway]. And although it's technical specificatons are completely in line -except for the battery- with the other transmitters I own...nothing is happening [Okay, to be fair, there's a light flashing, but that's all folks].
Did I purchase a DOA? Who knows...Or -and I must stress that I'm not familiar with the vendors reputation, but I consider it as being very decent- is Brookstone actually Crookstone Inc.? Certainly not, my beloved Amazon would chase them away with spears! Sigh...still think that their transmitter-concept is brilliant and I'm very disappointed that it didn't work. |
